Jose L. Ferrer cellar

Jose L. Ferrer cellar

In 1931, barely 28 years old, and after studying engineering in France, the young and restless José Luis Ferrer Ramonell founded this cellar with the name of Vinícola de Binissalem. The cellar would later be rechristened with its current name of Bodegas José L. Ferrer and its flagship brand Franja Roja which is currently synonymous with quality and prestige.

José L. Ferrer was a pioneer on the Island of Majorca in terms of:

Introducing new techniques into winegrowing.

Bottling wines for their later commercialization.

Ageing wines in oak barrels for the purpose of improving their quality and evolution.

Later exporting great Majorcan wines to Europe and the Unites States.
